My name is Randi Sparks (she/her), aka Pyro of Pyrogenic Arts, and I am an Artist/Educator local to Northwest Arkansas. All of my work is handmade primarily from clay, glass, cloth, and fiber, and features imagery inspired by nature, anatomy, and Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy pop culture.
I enjoy blurring the line between sculpture and function by crafting highly detailed, dynamic forms in my jewelry, pottery, and fiber art. I often utilize techniques such as hand-building, slip-casting, and wheel-throwing to create ceramic work, and table loom weaving, hand/machine sewing, and crocheting for my fiber art. I recently started learning about lamp-working and am looking forward to including more glass art in my shop in the near future. Each colorful piece I create is unique in the hopes that everyone who views my work will find something to love!
Outside of creating art, I am a full-time educator. I love helping others learn to express themselves through creativity of all kinds! I enjoy hanging out at home with my partner and our pets (three cats and a very silly dog) while consuming lots of media through TV, movies, books, and video games... All things horror and reality TV are my faves. I also love being outside; you can often find me biking, rollerskating, and hiking on our beautiful trails and swimming/kayaking in all our amazing bodies of water here in Arkansas. My nickname, Pyro, came from my time playing and officiating roller derby. Although I am no longer part of the derby world, skating will always be one of my favorite things to do!
